Choosing your Wedding Photographer

Wedding Photography

It is very hard to know how to choose the best wedding photographer for the best price. There are literally thousands of good wedding photographers out there who will offer you the best but only one of them is the person who will be right for you. I am a professional photographer and I would like to share what I have learnt over the years. See my site for more information on my professional photography service -> www.curiousworld.co.uk

First, you need to find a list of potential wedding photographers. Ask your friends and family if they can recommend one, personal recommendations are invaluable. Search your local area for weddin photographers on the internet or in your local directories. These days most reputable photographers have good websites with example photographs for you to browse through.

Once you have found a photographer with the style you like check to see if their prices are listed. Price is always a factor, especially these days. With regards to the pricing, what your see at first may not always be the actual price. Sites that state “prices starting from…” can be mis-leading. Make sure you get an accurate price on the photography you want. If you are not sure contact the photographer and ask for a complete price list. They should be able to provide this. If they don’t it is possible that you may be charged additional costs you have not thought of if you go ahead with them.

With your short list of photographers chosen, contact the photographer. You can do this however you feel comfortable. I recommend you telephone them and talk to them as this will be your first contact and can give you a greater insight into the photographer. If you are happy after first contact, you must meet your potential photographer.

When you meet a person there is always an initial feeling we have which is simply human nature. This is our inner self sub-consciously making a snap decision as to whether or not they like the person and can trust them. Most of us do not listen to this and wait for the person to sell themselves, but I do think you should listen to this inner voice. The instincts we are born with should not be under estimated, they have enabled civilisation to survive for centuries!

At this point you are in a position to make an informed and good decision on choosing your wedding photographer.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – If you are choosing them for your wedding day remember that they will be with you on one of the most important days of your life and will be capturing the moments that you will enjoy forever. It is a magical day and you must have absolute confidence that your photographer will deliver the style of photography you want and complete it in a time and fashion that you want. You do not want to spend hours on your wedding day having your photographs taken as you will want to spend time celebrating with your friends and family.

Finally, do not spend more than you want to. There is someone out there who will deliver all you want for the price you want. Shop around. Be sure you get the images in the format you want them and be sure this is agreed before you hire your photographer.

In Summary:

1.             Find a list of potential wedding photographers

2.             Check the price

3.             Contact – email or telephone

4.             Meet your potential wedding photographer

5.             Trust your instincts

6.             Do not spend more than you want

I hope this helps you make your decision.

Easter Egg Hunt Melt Down

If you are worried about your eggs melting in the garden tomorrow if you are doing an easter egg hunt don’t worry, I have a solution.  If you print out some pictures of eggs and put them in the garden the kids can find the egg pictures and then you can give them their eggs after.  Thank you to Lucy’s Mum for this tip.

Happy Easter to you.

Queen wasp building a nest in our green house!!

Wedding, Event and Portrait photography

Queen wasp building a nest and laying eggs of her workers in the Greenhouse!

This morning there was not a wasp in sight and this evening a very busy Queen wasp is building and laying the eggs of her workers in our green house!

Whilst it is great to have a natural pesticide on our side in the garden we think a wasps nest in the green house is a little to extreme!!!  What to do?  It is going to have to be destroyed but it is a horrid thing to do as this must have taken the wasp all day to build and it is beautifully crafted.  Nature is a wonderful thing!  If you have any suggestions as to how best to destroy or better still move this nest before it becomes established please let me know!

Hedgehog in the Garden

Curious World Photography, Capture the moment

I am so happy to meet you

I am so excited I feel like a little girl!!!  I have just been outside to call the cats in for the night (it is 9.30pm) and there on the lawn looking up at me was this beautiful hedgehog!!  I can not remember the last time I actually saw a hedgehog, it must have been when I was a little girl, hence my child like excitement now.  On seeing the hedgehog, I ran to my office, grabbed my camera and hoped he would still be there looking adorable when I came back out again.  Armed with my camera, a silly grin and a bowl of cat food (they like cat food) I happily found him still there looking cute.  I only managed 2 photos before he decided that flash photography was not for him and ran into the bamboo at the back of the garden.  Mr Hedgehog (or Mrs) you have made my day.  Thank you.  For those of you as silly as me, this site will bring a grin to your face whilst being informative!! http://www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk/kids/letter_from_spike.htm

Tulips are so beautiful

Curious World in the SpringI love tulips, they are my favorite flower and this time of year they popping out of the ground gracefully and making everything so pretty.  The tulips are up in our garden and I fear for them every time the boys go out to play!!!  They are so short lived but whilst they stand proud and beautiful they make me smile.

Today is my hubbys birthday, so a big Happy Birthday to you.  I hope you are having a great day.  We will have cake soon.
