Back to School

My eldest is back to school today and is very excited.  My youngest is coming to the gym with me to play with his friends in the gym.  My back is spasming when I bend down so I think maybe I will have to give Body Pump a miss today!!  Cross Trainer instead and some choice TV to wind away the time.

Have a great day.

Saturday morning!

This morning at 5am I realised that spring is coming fast.  As the rain put a shine on all outside the birds were singing their glorious morning song to each other.  Each black bird trying to out sing each other, the Robins making their chirp heard and many other little birdies melodiously waking me from my slumber.  Unfortunately this also woke the children so I have literally been up for hours and it is not 10am yet!!!  Such is the life of a parent.

The only noise I can hear now is them playing down in the playroom inside a large box.  No I have not put them in a box to post back to their grand parents, it is their den which I think will last for the remainder of this half term.

Their Dad and friends have gone off to walk Butser Hill and I do hope that the weather is kind to them because I really don’t think much pleasure can be had walking up a hill in the driving wind and rain.  We shall see.  My job this morning whilst not updating the meta data on every page of my site, is to keep the boys amused so from this blog I must go and join in the frolics in the den.  First distraction for the kids is a trip to the supermarket to get potatoes and leeks!!  The party never ends here!!!

Have a great day.

Life if a Ministrone

As I watch my neighbours pack up their house excitedly to move on to pastures new it reminds me of the very nature of us which makes us complacent to life.  We all have heard the expression “Life is too short” and agree but rarely take this into consideration as we tread water in our daily lives.  Many of us have dreams we want to chase but few of us have the courage to actually follow them.  This takes courage and usually money to achieve.  I admire those who do take that leap in life which can change things forever. My mother always says, “a change is as good as a holiday” and she is always right!

I think of a song I listened to when I was in my teens by 10cc, “Life is a ministrone, served up with omlettes and cheese”.  It about sums it!

My thought for today as I reflect on things moving forwards moment by moment is the old latin cliche ‘ Carpe Diem.  You can not say fairer than that.

Sunshine on a rainy day

I am off to collect the boys today.  Can not wait.  I have had a lot of time to catch up on work and now will spend the rest of the half term week entertaining the boys.  Very exited to see them!!

This does mean the Wedding and Portrait photography editing will now be done in the evenings!  I am catching up and hope to post out a DVD of images to Hannah and her family today.

Half Term Blues

Mischief is in the innocence of the boys eyes!

Why is it during school half term the weather is so often grey and bleak and cold and wet.  It is such a shame when we all have such busy lives that when we can be together for longer the outside is not always a great place to be.  Our boys are in Birmingham with their Grandparents and no doubt having a ball in their big house, but what do you do if you don’t have the luxury of space at home and you are crammed in together in this weather.  Computer, TV and Music can help but I think the best things are reading to the children, playing games with them and letting their imagination take us grown ups back to our youth.  The things they can do with a cardboard box!

This is so often lost though in our modern world.  We need to start bringing it back!!

With the children enjoying some quality time with their Grand parents in Birmingham I am afforded the time to catch up on some work.  I am 2 weeks behind on editing and thank you for your patience those of you who are still waiting for your photos!!!  With our family holiday and then horrid flu work has been affected almost as much as my health!!

Spring is coming though and with the fresh buds poking their hopeful heads out the ground, it makes me smile to know that no matter what happens in our lives the wheels of time keep on turning.  We just have to work harder to keep up each year!!
